Cybele was one of the oldest deities known to man, she was the primary mother goddess of ancient Anatolia, known as Mistress of Animals, Great Mother and the Mother of the Mountain. Archaeologist were able to find several overweight, seated women accompanied by two lionesses, many say that this is one of the earliest representations of Cybele. Her Phrygian cult was adapted by the Greeks around 6th century BC. In Greece, Cybele became a combination of multiple motherly figures, she partially assimilate the Earth deity Gaia, her equivalent Rhea and Demeter the harvest goddess. Cybele is associated with mountains, township, fertility and wild animals, especially the lions as they were often seen pulling her chariot.
