In Norse mythology, a valkyrie is a group of female angelic figures who choose the worthy warrior among the slain. The valkyries take their chosen to the Norse afterlife, Vahalla, a majestic hall located in Asgard. The dead warriors join their legendary group of heroes and kings as they prepare for the Norse end game of Ragnarok. Traditionally valkyries also have the power to judge victories from the warring factions, this gave the Viking warriors a reason to defy the logic of death, and view death on the battlefield as an aspired end to one’s life, because without a death on the battle the Viking warriors lose the opportunity to enter Vahalla.
Cold cast bronze combines real bronze powder with resin to create sculptures that replicate the look and weight of solid bronze. The pieces are highly detailed, with finely crafted textures and a smooth, polished finish.
