These two detailed miniature figurines capture the moment in Homer’s Iliad, where Hector and Achilles clash in a dramatic duel after Hector kills Achilles’ close friend, Patroclus. Consumed by grief and rage, Achilles chases Hector around the walls of Troy before finally killing him in combat. He then desecrates Hector’s body by dragging it behind his chariot. Later, moved by the plea of Hector’s father, King Priam, Achilles returns the body for a proper funeral, highlighting themes of heroism and the tragedy of war.
