The most famous Cyclops is Polyphemus, who captured the Greek hero Odysseus and his men only for them to escape by stabbing the giant in his only eye. Depends on where the story originated, sometimes Cyclopes are a group of savage giants who knows only brute force and cannot speak, but sometimes they are crafty blacksmiths who armed the Olympians with their legendary weapons during the battle with the Titans.
